tyrosine is a conditionally essential amino acid and the precursor to dopamine.

dopamine is responsible for helping to modulate body movements, sex drive (libido) and emotional states [1]

tyrosine has been shown to increase dopamine levels in the brain [5] and this is accomplished through the enzyme known as tyrosine hydroxylase which is an iron containing enzyme that transfers oxygen from the air into L-Dopa. L-Dopa is converted into dopamine. [6]
